Update regarding access to Hearing Aid Audiology during Covid- 19 restrictions:
Routine Audiology practice e.g. examinations/ assessments are not being carried out at present.
-As per the Irish Society of Hearing Aid Audiology (ISHAA) and the HSE, hearing aid audiology is recognised an essential service for the hard of hearing during the Covid- 19 restrictions.
-Midwest Hearing Clinic is currently operating a ‘closed door’ policy, whereby clients can be assessed regarding their concerns in relation to hearing loss and medical device issues by phone (or text/email if necessary) and where appropriate a drop off repair service can be arranged.
-If the client requires additional support, a face to face appointment may be deemed necessary, this service must be conducted following the HSE guidelines regarding PPE and limiting appointment times to 15 minutes.
-In some cases, it will be possible for the client to send their hearing aid(s) directly to the manufacturer for repairs (if necessary) rather than dropping the hearing aid(s) to the clinic. Please contact the clinic for advice on this.
-Contact the clinic if you require replacement filters etc and these can be posted, or collected from the clinic at an agreed time.
Please do not attend the clinic if you have any of the symptoms of Covid-19. If you are in a priority/ at risk group please arrange for a family member or carer to drop your hearing aids to the clinic.
